The match went to the thirty-sixth hole, where Black won 1 up. The spectators swarmed on to the course alter Young won the seventeenth, and a few of the officials had a. task in clearing the way for the players. . Both were on the final green with their sec'O'ndu. Young, whose ball ,/was ten yards Iron) the bole, had to sink , a putt 'for a win. The, spectators gasped when the ball stopped a foot short in a direct line. Black, who was almost stumped, putted .safely to the left for ,a certain ha/lf, which wo a him ■a most exciting encounter.

The weather in the morning was like mid-summer,' but clouded into a dull 'afternoon. PROFESSIONAL. The final of the professional championship resulted ; Shaw defeated Dyke 6 and 5.
