FEDERAL CABINET

PENSIONS DEBATE

DISSOLUTION IF DEFEATED?

(Australian Press Association),

(Received this day at 11.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 12.

The “Morning Herald’s” Canberra correspondent says that a serious situation has developed in the Federal Parliament.. It was learned that the Country party intended to insist upon the amendment ot the bill to. give further conversions to old ago persioners, and that it would receive the support not only of the Federal Labour party and the Beasley group, but from the Government’s own supporters who were prepared to vote against the Ministry unless some compromise were effected . This is likely, but the Government regards the matter as vital, arid if defeated wordd seek dissolution.
