RUMOUR DENIED
TROUBLE ON BRITISH SHIPS. INDIGNATION EXPRESSED. i: i .United Press Association—By Ele 'trie Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day at 1 p.ni.) LONDON, October 11. The “Daily Mail’s” Inverggordon correspondent says that the rumour current in London and .Portsmouth, suggesting that trouble occurred on H.M.S. Hood, has caused the greatest indignation in naval and civilian circles. Exhaustive inquiries on battle ships and*ashore reveal that the only possible origin of the absurd rumour is regret expressed by lowertleek ratings in the H.M.S. Hood and Nelson at the curtailment- of shore leave for a dance at jnvergordon, due to an outbreak of scarlet fever.
When the reason was explained the discontent vanished. The crews are indignant at the siiristey interpretation placed upon such a trivial affair.
