MAKING WAY FOR MEN
BERLIN, October 8
In order to replace women workers by men, the works council and management of the big ReemStina cigarette factory jn Altona, Germany, have offered £3O to every woman employee who will become married before the end of this year and make room for a man in the factory.
Nearly 200 women have accepted the offer, -and 60 have intimated their wilingness to stop working and make room for male relatives.
Premiums are to lie paid to Koenigsiberg housewives who have hitherto carried out their own housework, but now promise to. employ maids. Tho maids, however, must be paid wages corresponding to tho position of the family by whom they are engaged.
