There was a- provisional agreement as the result of the. visit to New Zealand by 'Senator W.. Massey Greene, AssistantTreasurer for, the "Commonwealth of Australia, 'in Aprillast. Senator Greene conferred with Mr. Coates and with Mr Masters, Minister of Industries and Commerce.. It was subsequently stated'’.that the-' agreement would have the effect of • removing many misunderstandings and improving trade between the two countries. Both Governments. have approved the agreement, but it cannot •be brought into effect until.it is ratified by both Parliaments. It is necessary that the announcement of the details of the agreement,should bo made simultaneously in the. two countries. A six months’ delay in the ratification has been caused by the , fact that both Parliament have not, in tun interim, been in session at the same.time.
