SUPREME COURT BENCH. [Per Press Association Copyright.) WELLINGTON, September 27. Pointed reference to the position created by the ■ non-appointment of a successor to Mr Jusic-e Adams, was made by Mi’ Justice Reid, at the conclusion of legal argument in a case in the Court of Appeal to-day. The Court had just granted leave to a man to appeal as a pauper to the Court of Appeal from a judgment of the ,Supreme Court, and, on this intimation being given, Mr C. H. Weston, counsel for appellant, said that it was desired, if jaossible, to have the appeal heard at the present sitting oi the Court of Appeal. Mr Justice Reid, presiding judge, with whom Mr Justice MacGreogr and Mr Justice Smith wort associated, said that an application for a fixture would have to be made at another time. “It i s highly improble that a 1 fixture can be made for the present sitting,’’ added His Honour, “because we are short on the Judicial Bench. It i« causing a great deal of inconvenience and pOssibly, in some cases, it may result in a denial of justice; but we can’t help that.”
