TASMAN FLY
MONOPLANE NEARLY READY WELLINGTON, September 25. Adv.ee has been received by Mr B. Shiel, aviation officer of the Vacuum Oil. Company, Ltd., from Mr Wilfrid Kingsford-Smith j brother of Sir Charles Kingsfird-Sm'ith, that the monoplane which' Mr T. W. White, chief pilot of New Zealand Airways, will fly ’across the Tasman Sea in December, in Company with the Southern Cross, ‘is almost completed. The monoplane, which will be a six-passenger, twin-engined machine, is being constructed iat Cockatoo Island. The two Napier-Javelin eng'nes, each developing 175 horse-pow-er, will be, fitted to the. machine shortly. The engines are on their way to Australia from England.
