CHRISTCHURCH, September 26. •Magistrate Mosley was baffled this morning when called, to judge the age of 'three young women, md.. decide whether or not they were under twentyone. He thought one might be 21, but as for the others, ‘-it is exceedingly difficult at the first glance to tell the age ,of women nowadays.” Because oi this doubt he .dismissed a charge of selling liquor t-o persons under 21, preferred .against Thomas A'spell, licensee of the Eastern Hotel. P&lI, however, pleaded guilty to selling liquor after hours, and was fined £3 and costs. The police said the offence occurred on Sunday, 'September 17th. The, girls were ini •company with three sailors? of the cruiser Canberra. All were quite, .sober >when they left in a taxi for the Port Hills. When this taxi was involved in an accident later in the evening, the party came under the notice of the police.
