Sergeant Ppw.ell was compelled to enter the ring and assist the leferee,, ♦VIr G. -JJutter, .to free Rumberg from a strangle hold which Patterson refused to release, in spite of the -strenuous efforts ■ of the .controlling official. Adopting a distinctly aggressive at-' t* tude throughout, Patterson earned the ireferee’s-displeasure on several occasions for illegal tactics, such ag lmir-pulling and gouging, Rumberg showing great 'restraint in refusing to retaliate. Each man had secured a fall at the end of the fourth round, the climax coming shortly afterward.

Upon being- disqualified, Patterson •became embpoiled with the ireferee, making two or three attempts to obtain a headlock bn that official, hut Rumberg instantly went to the rescue and, after a scuffle, succeeded in pinning his opponent. The disqualification met with the ,unon-impus approval of the cffowd, which cheered 1 loudly. Rumberg left the ring at the referee’s request, but Patterson remaining for some moments deunan'imous approval of the crowd, commenced to leave the hall.
