MON TELLY MEETING. The Canterbury Education Board met on Friday at Christchurch. Leave of absence was granted for o nc month to Atiss 1. G. Yeale, ivokatalid,-.; for an operation. ' Consideration was deferred of application for. painting ot exterior of j Woodstock school and outbuldings. | The foreman’s recommendations with ! respect to carrying put of the follow- ■ ing works at Ross were referred to Mr H. Bignell for investigation : —(a) Rebuilding of boys’ outoffices j attention t-j girls; provision of a concrete urjnal for boys. (b) L’rcssinh [repairs at school, viz., renewal, ot door studs .in front porch; re-nailing of weatherboards ; attention to leaking spoutings. Mr W. 11. Johnston agricultural inspector reported:— The following schools on the West Coast were visited just before the second term vacation : —Humphreys, Kaihinu, Hokitika, Ross, Ruatapu, Koitorangi Upper and Lower, Kokatalii; Woodstock ; and 'Kanieri. The work at Kaihinu has not maintained its usual standard. The gardens are somewhat neglected and the not-, book' work is weak. Relieving teacher, Mr Wick, is doting his best to straighten things up Ross.— The work has improved generally. Boys have completed the fencing of garden and have made a good job. , ~ . , • ■ Kpiterangi Lower (Mr Loney). ■ Pupils are getting a splendid lesson: in the value of ‘system/ Jnside the ■ school everything is tidy and well , arranged. Outside, the experimental, area has been extended and fenced, ; concrete paths have been hr id down,, and ornamental plots have been set ont and partly painted. Much: of the soil for these plots has been ; carted on Saturdays by the , hoys ; The teacher’s, scheme is definite and original, and I am looking forward' to outstanding results next term. ■ Koiterangi Upper.—ln addition to i ordinary garden work in this little school, a comprehensive topdressmg experiment. is being carried out.
