Johnston agricultural inspector reported:— The following schools on the West Coast were visited just before the second term vacation : —Humphreys, Kaihinu, Hokitika, Ross, Ruatapu, Koitorangi Upper and Lower, Kokatalii; Woodstock ; and 'Kanieri. The work at Kaihinu has not maintained its usual standard. The gardens are somewhat neglected and the not-, book' work is weak. Relieving teacher, Mr Wick, is doting his best to straighten things up Ross.— The work has improved generally.
