DISARMAMENT
POSSIBLE AGREEMENT (United Press Association—By Riectm Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, September 23. It is understood that us the result of their conversations, France, Britain, tlie United States and Italy have virtually agreed on having disarmament l .n two stages—the first to extend over four years in which no new armaments shall be allowed, and then a substantial, reduction. An important point is that France has agreed in principle to give effect to sucvli. disarmament. The; Executive Committee of' tire British Branch of the League of Nations ha s passed a resolution assuring government of its strongest support for the Government's' present efforts to secure a convention lor the reduction and limitation of armaments,. with effect control, and expressing the ibelief that the adoption of such a Convention is more essential now than ever. The Executive trusts that the ■Government will press for ail automatic, periodic, and effective system of supervision, applicable to all countries alike, and for >a reduction in armaments which would begin on the ratification .of a C onvention, and would proceed hv regular stages. The military attaches of sixteen countries were present on Salisbury Plain to-day .during the Aldershot and Southern Commands’ exercises.
