N.Z. BAND CONTEST
DISPUTE OVER THE PROFITS
PALMERSTON NORTH IMPASSE
(Per Press Association — Copyright ),
PALMERSTON N., Sepembcr 19,
The 1934 brass band contest will be no more than a glorious might-have-been, so. far as Palmerston North is concerned, unless the.; 'New Zealand Brass Band Association sees fit ’ to modify tile present dictatorial policy towards the loc'al contest committee.
At a meeting of. the. latter body, last evening, ;it was .unanimously de- 5 cided to wash their hands of the whole affair unless the New Zealand body were prepared to ' withdraw from the adamant stand in regard'to finances. ' Every member of the committee was of the . opinion that the claims of . the Association \yere ’grossly unfair.
At a previous meeting, it was resolved to .hold the contest only on the basis that the' parent„body woiild receive 10 per cent of the net profits, with n maximum of £so,' and not £SO and 10 per cent .of the profits as suggested.
