AMERICAN RECOVERY PLAN OPINION OF HON. G. W. FORBES ( p>gr Press Association — Copyright.) . WELLINGTON, Sept, 19. “Plans for the recovery of trade and employment were only in initiative stages when we arrived in New 'York,” stated the Premier, Mr G. W. Eorbes, in the course of his address at the civic reception ,to-night. “It was evident that great, hopes were being raised in anicipation of the beneficial effects on business .and employment that the operaton of the National Recovery Act would bring about. The opinion generally expressed was that ' the President has the belief that his plan, will be a way out of our troubles. “He has appealed to us to back the ' scheme, and he will respond to ’ his ap* 1 ’ ’ peal. One might be critical of seme details of the programme but the spectacle of a great nation trying to fight its way up from the depths of depression arouses one’s sympathy, and the fervent hope that they may be successful. • < “ . COAL CODE NEGOTIATIONS WASHINGTON, September 18. The protracted negotiations for a N.R.A. coal code were definitely completed to-day as President Roosevelt signed the instrument after eliminating highly controversial sections that were attempting to interpret the Labour Clause of the Recovery Act. This is regarded as a victory for fclie labour leaders.
