-SESSION OPENS TO-MORROW,

WELLINGTON, September 20. The 'Parliamentary session open tomorrow'. ' the . first day of the session wty’l be occupied with the formal opening of Parliament and the delivery by the Governor-General <of the Speech from the Throne. On Friday, j according to the usual custom, the House will pay its ,; 'last respects to members or- former members who have, died during .the recess, these' including Sir Thomas Sidey and iMr James. McCombs. Then copies the week-end adjournment, so that it' is unlikely that the proper business of the House will be started until Tuesday night, when the lAdcfress-iii-Reply debate will be opened by Mr Henry Holland (Christchurch North) and Mr W. J. Brondloot (Waitomo). Some members-of the Gdvercment are inclined to favour, a drastic curtailment of this debate, believing that the times arc too urgent to warrant the usual long discussions on general questions of'policy. The Labour party, however, greatly encouraged by its success in the Lyttelton by-election, expected to demand its full rights of criticising the Government’s policy. The leader of the' Opposition, Mr H. E. Holland, has declared that the result of the poll was tantamount , to a declaration of ino-eonfidenee i,n the Government.
