George Humiston (Leg Angeles) 6/2, 6/4. ,E; . h Quist and Turnbull had little d'fficulty in winning their opening round matches at the seventh annual Pacific Southwest Tennis Championships. Quist defeated Farnham Warriener 6/2, 6/1; and Turnbull defeated Robert Sanford 6/3, 6/4i Both opponents were local players. In the opening games both Australians found difficulty .in handling their shots on. the concrete courts. Turnbull found his opponent’s hard hounding service on the concrete somewhat difficult to "handle.
