BYRD EXPEDITION FLIGHTS TO BE BROADCAST. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day at 9.15 a.iu.) NEW YORK, Sep. 17. It was announced to-day that the Byrd Expedition will lie equipped with special radio apparatus to permit broadcasting to the United States via Buenos Aires. Both the arooplane and the two bases will serve as broadcasting stations, and facilities have been .planned for Commander Byrd to make one or more talks while flying over the Polar regions. Local technicians have been experimenting for months with special equipment, st-uclyiiiar climatic conditions and other difficulties. They behove that much valuable radio data will result from the attempt. Sisnor Marconi has cabled to Bryd offering his co-operation, and expressing belief in the feasibility of the broadcasts.
