“HAS NEVER FULLY RECOVERED.” MAN FACES CHARGE TN COURT (Per Press Association, Copyright). - AUOLAND, September 18. “I have spoken to an officer who was beside Lowndes at Bullecourt in 1917, and. he tells me that all young men who were in, that- bombardment never fully recovered,” said the Rev. Jasper Calcler, who called t ( > give evidence for Leonard H'lton Lowndes at the Police Court. Lowndes was charged with trespassing on his wife’s house while separatied, and with hoarding trains without money. Mr .Calder said that defendant enlisted at the . age of 16;), and six months later went through Bullecourt. He had since suffered from acute shellshock. He was all right exeunt when bouts came on periodically. hen he took liquor he went nearly insane. Mr Calder also told how defendant hud more than once telephoned at midnight and when meeting witness had said lie could feel himself slipping, and was afraid he might do himself some injury
After consultation the Magistrate adjourned the case for three months, and allowed defendant to return to the relief camp.
