HEIRESS PREPARES TO WED. LONDON, September 11. Although she is heiress to a fortune with the condition that she does not marry, Miss Alorjori.e Joyce Clementson, of Staplehurst,. Kent, is busy preparing for her wedding to Air Bernard Thorp, a Manchester business man. Under the will of Mr John Samuel Newlyn, a 74-year-old company director who died in 1929, Aliss Clementson was left £ISOO a year, a car, the use .of Knoll : House, Stapleluirst, and the income from a trust fund of £20,000. There was,. however, the condition attached that she was to receive the interest on £20,000 and live at Knoll House only as long as she remained single. It has been held that s ucli a condition attached to a legacy is contrary to public policy and has no legal effect.
