Following the prolonged dissension in. the Opotiki Borough Council, an application, wa-s made in the Supreme Court to-day by two ■ councillors, J. Anderson, (and S. Shalfoot, for a writ tt compel the Mayoir (Mr G. S. Moody), to call a meeting and put a, motion, of which, notice had. Been given on July 13, ‘‘that the town clerk (Mr. G. H. Fleming), be, and is hereby 5 dismissed from his office as town clerk.’!

When the case was called, counsel for Mr Moody said that the Mayor, believing. he". was acting according: to the rules-, had refused to put. the motion, but lie now agreed to do so, as he had been advised that the view, he took of the position- was wrong. . .. •••/."
