STATE CONTROL
TWO N.I. RADIO- STATIONS. (Per Press Association Copyright.) WELLINGTON, September 12. The Government is taking over two private radio stations, that of 2ZW Wellington, and IZR (Lewis Eady) Auckland. It is conjectured that the idea, is to supply alternative services at these centres, although 2YA has already a standby-station, while IYA station could serve as a standby when the new YA service begins. Both IZR and 2ZW were set up by private firms, and have been supported by clubs, and station I.ZII is expected to continue as at- present with its programmes for three months. There are now over 109.009 radio licenses held in New Zealand.
