At a meeting of tho executive of the West Coast Competitions Society held -at Grey mouth the treasnruer, submitted a statement cf receipts and -expenditure in connection with the -recent Festival. The receipts totalled £217 is; expenditure £321 19s lid, Irfiving a debit balance of £lO4 18s lid. Mr Keating attributed the loss on tho Festival to the falling off in attendances, the patronage given to the Festival, particularly on the- first tihrcF days, being net good. He added that the expenses incurred had been less than on previous occasions, and everything' bad been kept to a minimum in that direction. The annual report of Westland Piveweries Ltd., states, with a view to conserving the company’s finances, and the general uncertainty of the future of the trade, it is not proposed to recommend payment of a dividend this year. It is shown that the gross profit for the period under review, after paying for materials, wages, beer duty and writing off bad debts, is £9240 5s 6d, a decrease of £747 15s 2d as compared with June, 1932.
