Though the news has not leaked out of Germany, friends of the youthful Czech actress, Heddy Eisler, lehrnt that she committed suicide in the following circumstances. Mile. Eisler, a pretty soubrette, who frequently topped the bill at Berlin theatres, was rehearsing a short while ago when she I quarrelled with the stage mlanager, who chanced to be the head of the Nazi Cell Theatre. Eisler, losing her temner, cried : “Perhaps you were among the Nazis who burnt the Reichstag.” She was immediately arrested and then taken to Boabit prison. Nothing was heard far some days, but inquiries by Czech relatives revealed that she was found hanging from ,a nail on the cell wall following her arrest.
