Shields and Parker defeated Vines and Gledhill 6—3, 6—4, 3—6, 3—6, 6—2 ; Loti and Stoeffen v. Quist and Turnbull, 6—4, I—2. The latter match- commenced under lowering skies, and it was quite dark, with rain seemingly imminent, when the -second -set was commenced. The match was postponed after three games were played.
