Civil war and dictatorship, .following the election of a 'Socialist Government are startling possibilities envisaged by Sir Stafford Cripps, in a sympeUium of the views of Labour leaders, entitled “The Problems, of a Socialist Government. He declares that the first task of a Socialist Government would be to pass 311 'Emergency Powers Bill, empowering the Cabinet to establish' 'Socialism without Icoimilting ParliaInent. Sir Stafford Cripps foresees, that the measure nvoud not pass the Lords. If the Crown decided to continue in power, unconstitutionally, the upshot would bo conflict with the Crown, Lords .and Judiciary, throwing the country into convulsion loading to a capitalist uprising, which would have to be quelled by force. Sir Stafford 'Grippe, in a .letter denies that he approves of a dictatorship as a method of introducing Socialism. “Tho Times,” in an. editorial reports that the methods ar© indistinguishable.
