CABARET
STRICTER SUPERVISION SOUGHT
AUCKLAND, August 24.
The need for more supervision 'of cabarets and dance halls licensed by the City Council was urged by the New Zealand Alliance in a letter,, received by the council. The Alliance stated that complaints had been received of drinkintt on certain premises, should consider the advisability of refusing to allow cubicles in cabarets. The Mayor (Mr G. W. Hutchison) moved that tlie alliance should be recommenced to lodge its complaints with the police, There was no evidence in tho letter of the wrongful acts complained of. He did not say these places were always well conducted; but he would say the conditions were not half as bad as some persons asked them to believe.
A motion to.refer the alliance to the police was adopted, *
