WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the above executive was held at Greymouth last evening. It was decided to thank Mr McGillivray, secretary of the Canterbury Union, for his assistance in obtaining a referee for last Saturday. The grant of the Canterbury Union of £BS as expenses for the Rvanfurly Shield match was accepted with thanks. The secretary was instructed to interview the Railway Department, requesting that the excursion train to Christchurch on September 2nd start from Ross. It was decided to advise the Lake Brunner Sub-Division that the. Union regretted being unable to assist the Lake Brunner team to travel to Christchurch on September 2, to play a curtain-raiser to the Coast-Canter-bury v Shield match, Cobden thirds were granted -permission to travel to Westport on Saturday to play ia match there, and a game at Reefton on the following day. Air J. Guy was appointed manager of the West Cbast team to travel to Christchurch and Air F. Eggleton as co-manager. The team will leave for Christchurch oh Thursday next. The selection will be announced after the Hokitika-Lake Brunner Dittmali Shield match at Hokitika on Saturday, by the selectors, Messrs T, P. Ryan (acting) -and D, : R.. Dowell.
