A meeting of the Hokitika branch, of the Canterbury Mountaineering. Club was held last evening. Mjr P.. Phipps was appointed secretary in succession to Alj- R. A. Bell. It was reported that an ascent of Alt. Brown: had been made by .members since the last meeting, and also that two members of the Canterbury Club, G.. Alalcolmson and Jennings, had recentlyvisited Hokhika. The annual subscription was fixed at sa. The meeting considered the, proposal; of the removal of the Arahura hut to -Grassy Flats, to which the County Council had raised no Objection. It .was decided that, provided the hut would be for the use of the public, the proposed change would be in the interests of the local branch. It was stated that two parties: would be going to the Toaroha springs, this week end, one leaving on 'Saturdayafteirnoon, and the other early on Sunday morning.
