Wheat that differs from any other in the world, each head having small branches numbering up to nine springing from it, has been raised from ears found in a tomb unearthed during excavations at Mohenjodaro, India, The remains of Indian culture akin to the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilisations 4000 to 3000 B.C. have been discovered there. » It is estimated that this “mummy wheat was buried 5000 years ago. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute states that the yield is unusually prolific and the food value satisfactory.
