There was la complete absence of cheering crowds and only a few officials greeted Jimmy Woods, who is described as. the world’s unluckiest airman, after flying from Australia. When he landed at Croydon, his arrival was a complete surprise/ as he had not been reported since he left Karachi on July 23. . ■ It is now stated that Woods dam-
aged his under', carnage while taking off from Bunderbabbas on July 24. He eventually -left there on x August 11. ‘
To-day Woods flew from Italy
against headwinds and rain storms, \ and he arrived at Croydon in darkness.
Woods was so fatigued that he refused interviews and he immediately went to bed.o Jimmy Woods , told the surprised officials “My name is Woods. I have just flown from Australia. You have no idea what it is like ■ to; get the fresh air of Europe after being bashed about by monsoons, siroccos and all the vile winds of the middle East. I left Bunderabbas on Thursday, and I have battled against every wind and form of mature shire.”
