Ernest Reginald Clark, 23, of Wadmate, died suddenly at the Olympia Hall, to-night. He was engaged as a member of a dance orchestra, and collapsed about ten o’clock during the progress of a ball at Wainvate. It is understood that up to eight months ago, he had been under treatment following an attack of pleumatic •over,

WELLINGTON, '.August 17,
Doctor. Adams, the Government Astronomer, yesterday received a cable message from Melbourne (presumably from the observatory) which announced the discovery of a. navo (or “new star”) in Ophiuchus, an extensive Constellation which lies north of the Scorpion. It was seen on August 15, and was of the sixth magnitude, which is below naked eye visibility. It is not likely to increased in brightness, hut will no doubt be closely studied by the owners of telescopes, especially those fitted with spectroscopes. No indication of its exact position was cabled.

The Wellington Aero Club passed its half century mark in club trained pilots yesterday morning when its fiftieth successful candidate completed his tests.
