NEW ZEALAND PRIME MINISTER

Forty-one years ago there was placed on record in comment on the Canter-bury-Wellington Rugby .representative match at Newtown, Park the following item, which has a particular interest to-day:—

“Forbes, at half, played fairly, but the state of the ground prevented him doing anything brilliant. He stopped the rushes fearlessly, however, anti some of his kicks were very profitable.” The players referred to is New Zealand’s present Prime Minister, Mr G. IV. Forbes, and in those days be was an accomplished footballer, captain of the East Christchurch Club and a Canterbury representative.
