U.S.A. RELATIONS

N.Z, MINISTERS MEET PRESIDENT

WASHINGTON, August 15

Important conversations regarding the future commercial relations between New Zealand and the United States were Held to-day between the Hons. •G. W. Forbes and R. Masters and high officials of the American Department -of -State and Department ;of 'Commerce.

At the luncheon tendered Messrs Forbes and (Masters 'by President Roosevelt, the opportunity wars taken by -cho President to mention the question of reciprocal trade bptw<?eo the United States and New Zealand, There was ,a subsequent discussion with the U.S.A. Minister of Industries and Commerce, which is -reported .to have been -of a most frank and friendly nature.

QUOTAS FOR FOREIGN FISH RUGBY, August 16.

An order for the regulation of foreign fish landed in the United Kingdom has .been made by the Board of Trade under the Sea Fishing Industry Act, 1933. . Under this order,' quotas are allotted to foreign countries, and licenses will be required to land any fish other than fish brought direct to the United Kingdom bv fishing vessels registered in the British Empire. Fish from any Dominion will not be liable to the quota, but a license will be required for any fish, sent as cargo from any Dominion, although not for direct landings from Dominion fishing boats.
