IN HOSPITAL Since his sIPP. the French sjppp ,pf war, Savargna de Brazza, left Auck, land nearly three months ago the second 'in command/ Fleet-Lieutenant Lavoie, has been in the Auckand-Hos-pital. He was discharged a few -dayis. ago from the hospital and is convalescing a s the guest of Dr and Mrs .Rout, Devon port, before making a short visit to'Rotorua.: His plan B for rejoining his ship, which is stationed at Saigon, in French Indo-China, are not definite,; hut lie will propab’y leave by the Wan gan el la on August 18 for Sydney, there making connection with a Japanese liner for Hong Kong.
Fleet-Lieutenant Lavoie said he could not speak too highly of the attention given and the kindness ’ shown him during his long stay at the hospital. The patience of the nurses in trying to make him understand what they were saying had resulted in his learning an appreciable amount of English, and now he had no difficulty in finding big way about the city. Tie would leave Auckland, in spite of his long illness here, with a “bon souvenir” of the kindness accorded him,.
