The Hamburg Amerika Line elected ai new board of directors, replacing Jews by Aryans. A Nazi replaced the chairman, who, jn a farewell speech, .admitted that the Company, Was suffering from foreign hostility to Hitlerism, Hitherto the German Government has permitted remittances, limited to' thirteen pounds sterling monthly, to be sent to Jewish refugees. The privr j lege has now been withdrawn, on the ground that these emigrants have j been -attempting gradually to transfer! the whole of their property. This j leaves .approximately 1590 Jewish refugees in Britain penniless. The Jewish refugee committee has assured the British Government that none of the refugees will be allowed to become a. charge on the country, all being assisted by the committee.
