A painful accident occurred to a rope-boy, Samuel Maskill, at the L.verpcol Mine on Wednesday. While uncoupling trucks, he slipped, and his hand was crushed between the buffers of the two trucks lacerating two fingers of his right hand.

A valuable St. Bernard dog belonging to Mr J. McLeod, proprietor of the Park Hotel, Greymouth, died last night. This dog, named “Baldwin the Great,” was six years of age and was imported over seven months ago from Australia by Mr McLeod at a cost of over £IOO. He had been sick for six weeks.
