CROMWELL MINING
REVIVAL OF INTEREST NOTED. DUNEDIN, July 20. There has heen a general revival of interest in mining affairs at Cromwell during the week, many prominent men, including option-holders and enI gineers, visiting the district. One nugget of 24dwt. which was picked up in the Luggate creek, has created no little excitement. 1 lie Otago Aero Club’s aeroplane arrived in Cromwell at noon on Wednes- ' day under charter, and since then it has been in steady commission under perfect weather conditions. Dr. E. Marsden, permanent head of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, has made numerous observations, and laken away photographs from the air over a wide extent of the mining fields. Several mining men interested in the ! Nevis Gorge claim traversed nine miles j of its course by air, and a local photo- ! graplier did a similar trip. Others also ( made an air survey of the flat. ( I Speaking generally, there is an air . of calm confidence that practical developments will follow in the near future.
