Austin defeated Allison C/2, 7/9, 1 6/3, 6/4; Perry versus Vines 1/6, 6/0, l 4/6, 7/5, 7/6 (unfinished) with Perry L leading 7/6 and 40-15. » In the fifth set Vines collapsed on the court in a dead faint and was rushed to the hospital. Vines had a bad fall ; in the fourth set-,' hut resumed with apparent ill-effect. I In the tennis doubles, Lott and Van Ryu (United States) defeated Perry and Hughes (Britain) 8/6, 6/4,6/ 1. He was obviously stale. Austin proved the better stroke player and a clever strategist generally! He handled Vines, service well . Perry and Allison were better matched, but the American could not compare with the Englishman’s agility and decisiveness at the net, or his exuberance overhead. ■ GREECE ELIMINATED. COPENHAGEN, July 21. Denmark eliminated Greece by four matches to one from the 1934 Davis Cup.
