A SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS.

The efforts of the executive of the Hokitika. Poultry, Pigeon a«d Canary Club in the organisation of their annual show this year met with -distinct success and ,at the opening yesterday afternoon and again last evening there was a fair attendance, and the general opinion was, at- least, complimentary This afternoon and this evening, however, a large attendance is anticipated, and upon this will depend the complete success of the show.

The standard throughout rs good, and, in many of the classes, the judge (Mr <T. D. Gobbe, of Christchurch), had a,n unenviable task in making his awards. He p.poke in high terms of the general duality of the exhibits in all of the various ci'sses. The knitting section proved decidedly popular and attracted .wide attention, the judges (Mesdames Anderson and Macintosh), also having /difficulty in choosing the winner of the classes from among the wide entries of artistically designed garments. In the section .for girls under 16 (any article), the awards were: Clarice Tuck 1, Agnes 'Muir 2, F-lorHe Hall 3. CFT-tfMPIONSHIP AWARDS. The championship awards were as follow:—Best bantam in show, W. Gumming; best fancy pigeon, R. Fraser; best pigeon, R. Fraser ; best utility, heavy breed, G. Roberts; best bird in show, G. Roberts; cup for best bird on Coast exhibited, G. Roberts ; lightbreed. other than leghorn, R. Paulson; best homer hen, A. J. Andrews.
