r DISCUSSION OVER RESIGNATIONS

At a meeting of Stratford Hospital Board, the resignation of a probation nurse gave rise to considerable discussion, some members saying there were too many rcnignatkns Horn the nursing, stuff-. I lie board resolved to ask the liiedi. cal superintendent and matron for an explanation.
A statement by the nurse that she did not wish to continue miming was not considered explanatory.
Mi's Phillips said the board got too many lesignations. The chairman, Mr W. L. Kennedy, 1 said it was always th© same. They join up and then resign when they find the work too hard. , The secretary said 90 nurses went through the hospital in the last five years. ' , M r L. Bunn said that wvs a terrible lot, and asked if the conditions were jnaue too hard. Mrs Phillips alleged that the matron was too hard on the nurses. .me resolution wm then carried. The board also discussed a resolution from the Borough Council, suggesting that means for reducing expenditure’ be sought. An economy committee was set up.
