Evidence of the depressed state of the white pine trade is supplied in the fact that the steamer Kartigi, now in port at Greymoutli ,is loading only 400,000 superficial feet of that timber, or one-thi-rd of the quantity the ship is capable of taking, to Melbourne and Adelaide. While .repairing a liigjh-pressure motor-van tyre, a Dunedin service station proprietor was the vict.m of a painful and somewhat unusual accident. The stage is now set for the Hokitika Poultry, Club’s annual show to be held in the Soldiers’ Ball on Friday and Saturday of this week.
