A PROPOSED EMPIRE MATCH
N.Z. TEAM MAY VISIT AUSTRALIA
WELLINGTON, July 17
Eire New Zealand rifle champions, .y. ‘Ballinger, the first man to win. the bet t on three occasions, G- Halliday, A. /Oa 1 dwell, R. H. Nicholl, .and the guest of .honouir were present at a complimentary smoke concert tendered to the present champion, H. V. Ch'oxton, by the Ivarori Rifle Club. There was also present F. W. Ching, who won both the North and South Island championships i(n 'the same yea r during the wad, when ino lnational meeting was held.
The possibility that a. New Zealand rifle team would visit Australia next year was mentioned by Mr W. Mcßain He said that it was probable that Victoria would ‘be inviting an English team to visit Australia about October, 1934, >and tile National Rifle Association of New Zealand was in communication with Victoria on the subject. If Australia were able to get a- British team to come out, -New Zealand might send ,a/ team laoross ito Australia for an Empire match.
