NATIVE GREY DUCK

DEGREASE CAUSES CONCERN

WANGANUI. July 15

Concern was expressed at a 'meeting of the council of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society, -at the evident decrease in native grey duck, a decrease which appeared to be common throughout the Dominion.

'Members considered tint the only way to preserve birds would be to observe a 'close season periodically, and with that end in view, the society decided to make representations to the Government to consider the question of a close season for the whole of the North Island next year. It was stated •that a-' close season in isolated districts would be of no value.
