Tracv (boh. secertary) 'said that Lovelock "'attributed his 'Success to the first-class competition, which he was able to get in England and to : the expert coaching. Although "hik' achievement was not altogether .unexpected, in view of the wonderful performances out up by Lovelock, last season, it was a great source' of satisfaction to* tbo association to find this sterling athlete achieve so great >an honour, bringing fresh laurels to New Zealand. The hope of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is that Lovelock will retain his form for the Empire Gaines at London next year. The New Zealand Olympic and British Empire GapieS Association at its annual meeting to-night, decided to send a cable to J. E. Lovelock, congratulating hint upon breaking the world’s record for the one milfe run.
