MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING
The monthly meeting of the executive of the Hokitika branch of the Returned Soldiers’ ' Association -was held last evening, when there were present:—Messrs W. E.'Brown (president), R. Paterson,, T. 'Stuart, C. Hart, T. Lynch, J. L. Menzies, Thorn, hill Cooper, E. C. Armstrong, G. Gill enrist, G. A. King and the Bev. H. J. W. Knights. Apologies for absence were received from R. Appleton and S. Moore. •The following inward correspondence was read and received. From Headquarters, acknowledging receipt of mimes and addresses of financial members for “review” purposes. —Received. From same acknowledging receipt of monthly report and capitation ices. —Received.
A confidential report of the Dominion executive committee meeting was received and discussed. From the Christchurch brandies re poppies for sale next year.—Received and deferred to a later meeting. From the Pahiatua branch re transfer of Ensign Prouse to this branch. —Receivel. From the Returned Sailors’ and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia regarding this years issue of the Reveille and advising that the publica. tion contains gome very interesting war articles.-—lt was decided to purchase two dozen copies for use among the local members.
From Headquarters, re Flock House scheme, advising that the trustees of the scheme and the Government have conjointly agreed to provide the sum of £25 per trainee for the year ending 81st March 1934.—Received.
From.the Registrar of Pensions, advising that the claim of an ex-soldier is being inquired into.—Received.
From the Red Crcwns Society, author, ising the secretary to purchase supplies of tobacco for hospital patients. —Received.
From the P. W. Department, replying regarding compensation payment to disabled members of the local branch, and advising that the department is endeavouring to bring the matter to finality at the earliest possible date.—Received. .

From Miss D. The president reported that he attended the last euchre tournament as instructed by the committee to ascertain the wishes of the euchre patrons as-to what wag the desired form for prizes ip the tournament. He stated that it . was unanimously .'decided that groceries were the most desired- prizes, lie also suggested > .certain improvements, that may be effected in coupection. with the tournament. • , • The secretary reported on the formation of ,a sub-branch at Kumar a, and ij, was to, yjsit Kumara, <on Mondyenext to meet the ex-servicemen there, -with i tjlie. intention of forming a sub-branch. : ~ , ~ j It .was decided to ask Mr L. Seven new members were proposed and accepted for membership. The cominitte thou went into details of the annual re-union and finalised the necessary arrangements. ''Mr Gilchrist placed at the disposal of the' committee a grotip photograph of C. ; Company 11th Reinforcements at Trehth'ani Camp, for exhibition . in Soldiers’ Hall. A vote of- thanks was awarded to Mr Gilchrist for his generous donation.
