PRINCE AT GOLF

MATCH WITH LADY ASTOR SIDELIGHTS ON’THE PLAY LONDON, July 6. Taking no chance with his lady opponent, either before or during the match, the Prince of Woles entered the final of the annual Parliamentary golf tournament. The Prince defeated Lady Astor, M.P., ito whom he gave seven strokes, by 2 and 1. Both prepared for the match with great enthusiasm. In previous practice, the Prince had putted so vigorously that the green became so covered with balls as to suggest a snowstorm. The venue was Walton Heath, and was a “secret” ; a large gallery of residents collected the divots from the Prince’s iron shots. He insisted on Lady Astor having the honour, but refused to concede short putts. The Prince cried: “What a shot!” when his first drive jumped out of. a bunker to the fairway. He drove well, but putted so badly that he said: “1 must be crazy”. Lady Astor, using clubs which were a gift frlom Gene Sarazen (America) remarked: “I do. not know why he chose to-day to play so well.”
