THE 'HOPE OF MR ROOSEVELT
HAS BEEN TWICE PREVENTED

WASHINGTON, July 15
President Roosevelt received two ,New Zealand Rotairians, Mr T. C. List and Mr Fwink Milner, in a special audience, at White- House, President Roosevelt said that as a jßotarian himself, the Rotary movement appealed to him as being worth while as it aimed at'promoting an un- : derstanding that was very helpful and necessary ' between. English speaking nations. President Roosevelt sent a message of goodwill to New Zealand Jtotariaas. On two occasions he said he had completed' arrangements to visit New Zealand, the scenic and rural beauties of which : especially appealed to him. Hn 11914 the outbreak of the war had ..prevented him, and in 1920 he was unable to. go because of nomination for vice-presidency. He hoped to bo more' successful next time.
President Roosevelt inquired . concerning the position in New Zealand following on the depression. He expressed the ; opinion that the Dominion hid {fared -better \than the United States did. Messs List and (Milner have been giving 'a series of addresses throughout the United States.
