BESETTING
STRIKE LEADERS CHARRED (.Per Press Association Copyright.) V : WELLINGTON, July 14. Four men who have been taking a prominent part in the relief workers’ strike wore arrested in their homes last night, and charged before Air Page S.AL to-day with unlawfully besetting a place where relief workers were engaged, with a view to compelling them* to abstain from doing acts which they had a legal right to do. Accused refused to enter pfeas. They were Chas. Norris Brookes, 37, Richard Henry AVehb, 28, Charles Fred-erick-Baken 49, John Harvey Blair, 37. Blair /said he thought it farical to plead, (and AVehb said that he refused .to recognise the court. V The (Police in asking for a remand, said the’ii.Ccused were at the head of a group ofyabout 350 men, which visited ' relief - : jqbs, endeavouring to get the men to . leave work. In order to avoid trouble) 'men had been taken, off their jobs when the group was seen appearing. Substantial bail was suggested, but counsel for accused intimated that hail was not asked for, and a remand would not he opposed. The men were remanded till Tuesday.
