To-day’s results at Wimbledon were : Men’s singles, third round:— Prenn defeated Turnbull 7—5, 6—o, 6 —2; Mengel defeated Farquharson 6—3, (,—3, G—2; Austin defeated Gledhill 6—3, 10-8, 6—l. Doubles, first round Crawford and McGrath defeated Cronin and Purcel o—2, 6—3, 6—2; Borotra and Brugno n defeated Lee and Lester 7—5, 6—2, o—4. Crawford entered the quarter finals . of the singles without a contest, as Steelman, the New Zealander, who was i to have met him in the fourth round, I is suffering from laryngitis, and has scratched.
CRAWFORD-STEDMAN MATCH.
LONDON, June 29,
Stedman, who yesterday was unduly distressed at the end of his long match, is to-day in bed uith laryngitis. He offered to forfeit to Crawford the r\vch which should have been played to-morrow, but C/awford refused, insisting on a postponement till Saturday to give 'Stedman time for recovery.
