BRITAIN’S POSITION
DEPRESSION DISAPPEARING WELLINGTON. June 26. A through passenger by the Maunganui to Sydney from San Francisco is Sir Robert Garran, of Sydney, who presided over a tribunal in London to advise the British Government on certain questions regarding the apportionment of defence expenditure for India. Sir. Robert Garran, who recently retired from tho position of Solicitor-Ger-eral to the Commonwealth Governmer.., made a tour cf England after the tribunal had made its report. He said that the depression complex seemed almost to have disappeared. On the other hand, America was still feeling very seriously the effects of the depression, but the re-Mile bad groat hopes for the future under the Roosevelt regime.
