NOT TAI SING
WRONG MAN IMPRISONED (Per Press Association — Copyright■) AUCKLAND, June 26. Willie Tong, wh 0 served four days in Mt. Eden Prison, is not Tai Sing. This much was decided by Mr Justice Reed, this morning, when he ordered Tong’s realease. Counsel said the position seemed tobe that Tong for a long time, had been carrying on as Tai Sing, but be had no evidence to offer. Counsel for the Chinese said he had a witness to prove Tong was not Sing. The Judge said the defendant ban I-drived m ar: absurd way. Hi'imount .nvo'ved in the debt proceedings was only £B, and although paper's, iiacl been wrongly served on him, he allowed the proceedings to go, and actually went to gaol. The Judge refused to grant costs against the persons who had defendant imprisoned, but said that if an action were taken for damages for wrongful imprisonment, the costs could then be added.
